Last weekend the Ubuntu Academy family drove down to Mfuleni to support our partner organization Ubizo Theatre during the Ubizo Arts Festival. Some of our students also performed and they received three awards: best performance, best director, and best costume! Well done!
The festival was a great success, with people standing on their chairs to capture every move and sound. The Ubuntu Academy students from Blikkiesdorp and Mitchell’s Plain couldn’t always understand what the Xhosa performances were about, but nevertheless they were thrilled to be in Mfuleni and to see their fellow students perform.
During the Ubuntu Academy Tour (November 2013) the students will visit each other’s communities again. Bringing together different cultures and communities is part of the Ubuntu Academy’s methodology.
